August Programming - Big Muddy Adventures
Private Canoe trip & campfire dinner with Landscape and Nursery Association of Greater St. Louis
Trip date: Wednesday, August 12, 2026
Trip timing: 3:00pm - 9:00pm
Meetup location: The group will meet us at the parking lot near the boat ramp at Columbia Bottom Conservation Area. Here is a link to the location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Yn4b2yndqqVLNvyi8
Number of participants: Up to 27 participants
Schedule for the day: We'll meet the group at 3:00pm at the meetup location. After a welcome and introductions, we'll then shuttle the group to our put-in location at Sioux Passage Park, about 25 minutes away. When we arrive at the put-in location, we'll get every paddler outfitted with a life jacket. Next, our river guides will provide a safety talk and paddling demonstration before we load into the boats and begin our paddle. Our adventure will start by paddling along the Missouri River to an uninhabited island. This is where we'll enjoy a gourmet campfire meal, but first the group will have time to explore the island or chill around the campfire. After our time on the island, we'll load back into the boats and begin our short paddle back to the boat ramp at Columbia Bottom. The trip will end where we began at the parking lot where your vehicles are parked.

September Programming - St. Louis City SC
Tour St. Louis City SC - Energizer Park
Cody Azotea from Focal Pointe will lead us on a tour of the one acre prairie outside of the stadium. We will them be lead by the is City SC grounds crew on a private tour of the stadium with an emphasis on turf & irrigation, and sustainability.
LNAGSL members will have the first chance to RSVP.

This class is designed for photographers with beginner to intermediate experience who want to take more intentional, impactful photos.
Bring any camera you'd like help with, including your smartphone, DSLR, mirrorless camera, or point-and-shoot. We'll cover camera settings, practical shooting techniques, and tips for getting the most out of the equipment you already own.
During the class, Kim will share examples on the projector, break down how each image was created, and explain the settings, composition, and techniques used to achieve the final result. Then we'll head outside for hands-on practice and apply what we've learned in real-world situations (weather permitting!)
Topics we'll cover include:
Camera settings and when to use them
Smartphone photography tips and tricks
Composition and framing techniques
How to make a scene stand out
Understanding light and how it affects your photos
Kim Dillion’s Bio:
Photography has been at the heart of Kim Dillon's career for 25 years. After studying both photography and graphic design in college, she began her career as a graphic designer and editorial photographer for Smith Mountain Laker Magazine in Virginia. It was there that she photographed her first garden, a project that sparked a new passion and became her speciality.
For the past 15 years, Kim has specialized in photographing gardens, landscapes, and outdoor living spaces for landscape designers, gardeners, and publications including St. Louis Homes + Lifestyles magazine. She believes photography and design naturally go hand in hand, and she brings both disciplines to every project, creating images that are visually compelling and thoughtfully composed.
Kim enjoys sharing her knowledge with others, helping all skill levels learn to see light, composition, and beauty in the world around them.
June Programming - Tree Walk

Dan Billman will lead us on a two hour walk that focuses on trees, diseases, treatments, and what trees we can plant to avoid issues.
We will have water/drinks and light snacks at the start of the walk.

February Programming - Design Symposium
Monday February 9th - 5:00-8:30 at St. Louis Community College - Meramec
Join us for an engaging evening that brings together students and industry professionals to connect, learn, and be inspired by the art and practice of landscape design.
Informal networking hour featuring complimentary appetizers and refreshments, creating the perfect setting to engage with students, faculty, and professionals from all over the green industry.
During this time, a wide range of landscape designs will be on display, showcasing creativity across multiple design styles and specialties.
Guests are also encouraged to tour the new Horticulture facilities at St. Louis Community College at Meramec.
Speakers and programming that delves into a variety of design principles and process. This will include a presentation from Arbolope Studio on the design process and implementation of the new STLCC - Meramec facilities and landscape.
In the true St. Louis Designer Group fashion, we will will break into round table discussions on a myriad of topics moderated by local experts in their fields to close out the night.
This event is FREE to all attending, but registration is required.

Featured speakers Doug Tallamy and Austin Eischeid will offer fresh insights into the evolving world of horticulture. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to exchange ideas and interact with others who are passionate about plants and sustainable landscapes. A continental breakfast will be provided as participants enjoy a morning of inspiration, connection and green innovation.
October 2025 - STLCC - Meramec Open House and Self-guided Tours
STLCC Horticulture Department invites students, alumni, industry professionals and the community to explore their newly transformed spaces — including state-of-the-art labs and greenhouses. These new learning spaces are part of the College’s STLCC Transformed initiative to modernize facilities and programming to improve the overall student experience and meet workforce demands in Missouri.

Please join us for our community outreach project in October. Come prepared to work in rugged overgrowth…bring loppers, saws and all proper PPE. We are working on getting a chipper and volunteer crew to help grind up our debris, if anyone has leads on that please let us know. Inside the building, Jean Ponzi (of Missouri Botanical Garden Earthways Center) will highlight the biophilic elements of the construction, design, and operation where “technology and nature work in harmony to provide a world-class guest experience”. Join James Faupel (supervisor of ecological restoration) and Allison Azmy (horticulture coordinator) for a rare opportunity to tour the Litzsinger Road Ecology Center, a 39-acre study center managed by the Missouri Botanical Garden, but not open to the public. See their reconstructed prairies, restored bottomland woodlands, and newly redesigned native landscape beds, in the heart of a residential area during this outdoor walking tour. Learn about how they use their site to work with local educators and conduct research in this hidden gem.
